Bandit's Big Refit - Part 1: New Cooker

Something that we've been wanting to do since purchasing Bandit is to completely refurbish the galley. The whole thing is completely original and conveys a real 90's vibe. There's nothing wrong with that but Dad would like to rebuild the whole thing, giving it a really modern look.

A similar thing was done on our previous boat, Bliss. The whole galley was stripped out and replaced with a new sink, cooker, hob, gloss black worktop and cupboards. The plan for Bandit is fairly similar.

At the moment, we've got the original Rose 6070 cooker and grill, the old two burner hob, old twin sinks and tap and old oak cubbyholes at the back of the galley. The plan is to replace the worktop for something like gray granite, replace the twin sinks for one round stainless one, replace the two burner hob for a new one with smoked black glass hinged lid, replace the old cooker for a new one and replace the oak cubby holes at the back with sliding smoked glass cabinets. After all that's in place, we'll kit the whole thing out with 12v strip LED lighting. Either in blue or bright white. We'll decide on that later...

So, part 1;
We've ordered a new cooker and it arrived today. Our friends who have Josie, another Sealine 290 Ambassador, have a cooker and hob identical to the one we've wanted. It's fair to say we've taken inspiration from their galley. The cooker itself is a brand new Smev FO311GT which we found on eBay for £300 inclusive of postage and packing. A brilliant buy as the cooker retails for nearly 600 quid. The cooker is stainless steel and has mirror effect glass which looks fantastic. We've had a good look at the cooker and it seems perfect. Even better, it's got an interior light and electric ignition which is far more than the 1990 Rose cooker has. Sadly it can't go in until we've planned the rest of the galley so it'll have to sit in the spare room at home for a couple of months. We thought we'd get it now as we got such a great deal on it from eBay. Better than the deals we had seen at Southampton Boat Show 2016.
